Perhaps, when a team cheats to advance to the Super Bowl, then that team is fined by the league for $1 mil. Then that team's fans start a money raising campaign to offset the fine for the multi-billionaire owner.
Yes, I am speaking about the 1,159 fanatical Patriots fans who have donated $16,244 (as of 5/17/2015) to "help" the team pay for the league's $1 million fine for "Deflate Gate". Directly from the GoFundMe.com page:
"IF you (The NFL) have a reason to punish them for cheating, fine.. suspend Tom Brady 4 games, take some draft picks.. IF you must add on a fine, be reasonable. One Million dollars is not F***ing reasonable. Its classism."
According to Forbes, the Patriots' total revenue was $428 million and an operating income of $147.2 mil for the 2014, fiscal year. Moreover, the Patriots' possess a budget of with a total team value (franchise, stadium, marketing, etc.) of $4.2 billion. That being said, I completely agree that $1 million is unreasonable. The $1 million fine is meant to sound like a lot the to non-New England world, but clearly is a drop in the bucket. The NFL issued slap on the wrist amounts to 0.23% of the team's revenue or 0.68% of the team's operating income, more than likely will account for less, since the Pats' "won" the Superbowl and revenue poured in.
